Learning About Our History At Gettysburg National Park

Today we visited the Gettysburg National Military Park in Gettysburg PA. This is the site of the deadliest engagement of the Civil War. More than 50,000 men were killed here. We watched the movie, toured the museum, and did the auto tour around the park and battlefields. The park contains 1300 memorials of all sizes and for both the North and South. I had read Michael Shaara famous book on the battle, The Killer Angels, but it is very different being there. You understand very quickly why the Union forces had such an advantage. You can see it and feel it as you move around the park. They were on the high ground. This park is a pretty amazing place.

This park is well worth a visit. Click here to learn more about Gettysburg National Military Park
