We will be seeing lots of cool birds on the trip and I wanted to learn how to draw them in my new Camping and Travel Adventure Journal. I found this cool site with some nice simple instructions,
JohnMuirLaws.com which is on science, education and art and this page on drawing birds: http://www.johnmuirlaws.com/drawing-birds
Also check his cool page on drawing tools and supplies for naturalists

Be sure to check out my new journal for camping and traveling (coming soon)

We Have a New Home, a Copper Canyon 5 Tent from Euraka!
Getting ready for our cross country road trip this summer along the Lewis & Clark Trail and have been looking at all the tents. We intend to do hotel, motel and camping. Mix it up. Been looking at lots of tents at Bass Pro, Natick Sports, Amazon, LL Bean, YouTube, other, I had no idea there were so many different kinds and styles to choose from. Yesterday we went to Hilton's Tent City on Friend Street in Boston. This is where we bought our first tent and we have always had a fondness for it. It is an old store on 4 walk up flights of stairs. The tents are on the 4th floor. We are going to be hiking so we should be able to walk up 4 flights of stairs.
We had excellent help from a staff person and we set up two tents, the Copper Canyon 4 and the Copper Canyon 5 which has a 4 man area and a front vestibule that has space for chairs and a small table. The Canyon 5 is what we went with. The Eureka tents were ones that we kept coming back to because of the high ceiling, being able to stand up is important, easy in and out, nice windows, pretty easy set up. (We will be learning about this a lot). They also have an excellent repetition.
